Eligibility checker

Wondering if you or someone you care for can access government-funded aged care? Answer a few questions to see the most useful next step. No name, phone number or email needed.

About this check: This is an initial guide. My Aged Care and an independent aged care assessment decide eligibility and the services approved. Your answers stay in this browser and are not sent to Amanah.

  1. 1. Age and situation
  2. 2. Current support
  3. 3. Care needs

Age and situation

Answer for the person who needs care.

Are they an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person?
Are they experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness?

If you are unsure what counts as being at risk, My Aged Care can discuss the circumstances.

What this checker can and cannot tell you

Age and everyday care needs indicate whether an assessment may be appropriate. They do not establish an entitlement to funding, a particular program, a budget or a start date. Income and assets can affect contributions, but this checker does not use them to exclude someone from an assessment.

In 2026, the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) still supports people with lower-level needs. Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025. My Aged Care determines which pathway applies following assessment.

From first call to first visit

Four steps, and we do most of the work

You do not need a diagnosis, a plan number or the right words. Tell us what is happening and we will work out the rest with you.

  1. 1Talk to usCall, email or send a referral. We ask about the person, the household and what a good week looks like, not just which services you are funded for.
  2. 2Care planningWe review needs, budget and preferences together, and set out exactly which supports we would provide, on which days, at what cost.
  3. 3Matching your carerWe match a carer on language, gender preference, cultural fit and availability, then brief them properly on your household before the first visit.
  4. 4Services startSupport begins on the agreed schedule with the same carer wherever possible. We check in early, then keep checking in.
